What kind of sites can use your work?

These types of sites are OFF LIMITS to my artwork PERIOD!

  1. Sites that advocate pedophilia/kiddie porn in any way shape or form.
That includes sites that include stories or 3d art.  Yes, I know what the law says, those are pedo legal, I have worked for SafetyEd International on their cyber stalking and web trace teams, so I am familiar with this law… I don’t care what the law states about pedo legal, I WILL NOT TOLERATE IT PERIOD!!

  2. Any site that has any type of racial, religious or gender hatred.
  3. Any site that contains abuse or violence. This means sites that contain rape, or advocates child abuse or snuff, etc. This DOES NOT mean groups who are advocating protecting the child from being abused, or sites that promote help to those who are being abused or have been raped.
  4. Blatent Porn sites, you know the kind I mean…

These types of sites can use my work

  1. Any non profit website that does not contain the above mentioned stuff.
  2. Any site advocating a good cause. A good cause is abuse awarness, a good cause is NOT racial hatred. Get my drift?
  3. Sites containing tasteful, artistic nudity.
  4. All other websites that do not contain the above mentioned stuff. :)
  5. I don’t care if you make money off of your website… as long as you make money off your own stuff and not mine, you can use my art.  Just make sure your site content is NOT  in my OFF LIMITS category. :P

What can I use your artwork for?

Being on the net does not make things public domain.  Fair use can be a shaky ground to tread, so to make it easy, I am going to spell it out pretty
simply.   It’s always nice when someone emails me for permission, and I am very happily surprised with the number of you who have done so.  But, there are still those few that steal my artwork and claim it as their own, so this is why this is being included.   In any case, the link back and name credit should look like this:

Original artwork

(c) Dusky Illusions

The HTML looks like this:
Original artwork (c)<a href="http://www.duskyillusions.com"> Dusky Illusions</a>

You can not use any of my artwork for any type of profit what so ever.

Do NOT steal my bandwidth.  If you use anything, download it to your own computer and upload it to your own web server.

Feel free to  add your web page onto the add your link section of the website.  I would love to have a look and see what you have done. :)
This is not mandatory.

Posting my artwork on your site to share with your visitors:  I have been getting alot of emails about this, and WOW, thank you guys!  I do require the link back and name credit on the pages my art is used.  Please don’t alter it too much though.  No recoloring, and that allowed.  It
is ok to resize.

For web sets I require a text link to my site and name credit visible on the home page or if the art is only on one page of the site, that page.

Web graphics which include things like snow globes, dolls, etc:
Tubes are not included in this grouping.  I require a text link and name credit under each item.  If you are making things to give away, make sure it is clear that the taker knows that they need to do this as well.

Stationary for email groups or for free from your website:
I require the same text link and name credit in the body of the email.

Use of my graphics for tutorial purposes:  I do allow
and encourage this.  Tutorials are very important as it allows us to share a knowledge with someone new, basically carrying on a tradition of skill.
If you use my artwork for a tutorial, please give the link to my site as being the source of the specific item.  Also, email me the tutorial link.  I would love to be able to share the link with others as well.  If you need a place to host a tutorial, please email me.

Can I use your artwork for tubes and sig tags?

I usually allow this when asked permission first.  In some cases, I still have pieces that are in .tif or .psd form.  I can give you a high res large piece to work with, which does include tubes.  I like to make tags and tubes myself so I have no problem with you doing this as long as:  you ask me permission, you give me the credit for the original artwork, you link back to me and send me a link so I can link to you.  I do not allow my work
to be used for profit.

What is the proper use of your free items?

Each of the pages of free items has what they can be used for.  I know some of you still have questions.  When I say for commercial or non commercial use, I mean, you can use them in an image that you create and sell as a print.  You can not include any of my free items on a cd compiliation, or sell them as is.

As for the hosted items, the answer to the question is best asked of the creator.  I can not say what the proper use for hosted items are as I am not the copy write holder to them.  I merely host them.

Is Dusky Illusions really working on RPG Modules?

Why yes, yes I am.   Currently my partner and I are diligently working on our first module book for Tri Tac System’s Bureau 13.  We hope to have the first book finished soon, and sent off to Richard Tucholka for final approval. Unfortunatly, deployments have gotten in the way of finishing this off.
We hope to be done soon. ;P
We also have  modules for Tri Tac’s FTL:2448 in
the works as well as a new RPG system.  Beta testers will be needed so drop us an email if you are interested.&nbsp

Can you host a freebie, tutorial or art gallery
for me?

Yep, I sure can!  There have been some changes to the old faq for this.

Tutorial hosting is now made simplier. All you need to do is register on the Tutorial forum and post it.

Freebie hosting is also simplier. Again you need to register and either upload or cross post your items on the Downloads Forum

in the proper section and there you go. If we missed a category or forum, please let us know.

Galleries: You must register on the gallery section first. You still need to drop us an email to set up your main album for you. Then after its set up, we will send you the instructions.
Yes, we could allow anyone to just register in the galleries and make their own, but we have seen instances of this elsewhere where it has been abused. Again, we are not an art community like Renderosity, we just want to give back to the community and help those who need it. Web space can also be set up at the discretion of Bri.

Why are you no longer selling your prints?

Happy to say that I am again selling prints of certain items. Found an awesome place called Finerworks.com.
I am very pleased with the quality and choices they offer.
