While I am not an avid tv watcher, I am a die hard fan of “Law and Order”, have been since the original came out with Det. Sgt. Max Greevey, Det Mike Logan, Capt. Don Cragen, Exec ADA Ben Stone, ADA Paul Robinette, DA Adam Schiff as our main characters. I absolutely loved the cross over into Homicide Life On The Streets… (I am hoping Munch isn’t gonna be the next char to go…). I miss old Lenny every day, (RIP Jerry Orbach) and will admit readily that he with Sam Waterston are my all time favorite original L&O chars.

Out of all the L&O series, CI has been my favorite. I do enjoy SVU, I have been a Munch fan since Homicide LOTS, and was happy to see him continue his character in SVU.

Out of all the teams L&O has thrown at us, Goren ( Vincent D’Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe) have been the most interesting. They make CI in my opinion. After loosing Det Logan for the second time, we are now loosing Goren and Eames… (I miss Wheeler!! (Julianne Nicholson)).

Don’t get me wrong, I think Jeff Goldblum is a brilliant and fun actor, I just DO NOT like his character Det Zach Nichols. Although, I guess its good to ride on the coat tails of a show that has been a success for so long before the “big” name came in?

Zach Nichols, as portrayed by Jeff Goldblum, is an analytical and quirky character.

I didn’t like the series Monk, and here we are with another “Monk” clone in Zach Nichols…. I find that Zach goes off tangent a little too reminiscent of “Monk”, and the logic that Goren brings has been forgotten in this character. When watching the episodes with Goldblum, I am waiting at any moment for him to be afraid to touch a door handle because he doesn’t know who touched it last.. It irritates me to the point, after the first 10 mins, I turn it off. I tried to watch Monk, I couldn’t get into it. (No offense to Tony Shalhoub).

Tuesday night will be the end for me. I will see what they have in store for Goren and Eames. I hope that both go out in the kind of glory that Capt Ross (Eric Bogosian) did. I hope they don’t pull the Speedle departure type thing that was pulled on CSI Miami… LAME!!!!!!! (I haven’t watched that show since, you don’t take a brilliant mind and turn him into a reckless, dumb ass to kill him off a show…).

This coming Tuesday will be the last we see of Goren, I highly doubt after seeing the following quote that he will be back from time to time.

“L&O:CI” is a USA Network show now after running on sister channel NBC. And USA, insiders point out, likes lighter fare when it comes to its shows. Goldblum is more in the tradition of Tony Shalhoub’s “Monk” than D’Onofrio.

While USA likes “lighter fare”, they tend to overwhelm in the useless and chronically moronic… Maybe they do not realize that a lot of their ratings came from the Goren and Eames fans they picked up when CI went to USA from NBC?.. I never watched that channel before CI went to it, I mean come on Monk? Psych? Give me a break! THATS SOME GOOD TV!!!!!!!!!!! NOT!!!!!!!!! I won’t even begin to talk about Burn Notice, I don’t care if they have the ALMIGHTY Bruce Campbell or not! I tried to watch that show once…. can you all give Jeffrey Donovan (Michael Westen) some acting lessons please??

I would also like to point out, USA Network, if you wanted to keep Monk, why did you end the series? Let’s keep the Monk clones in the closet, and come up with creativity. If we wanted to watch Monk, we would watch the reruns. (OK, I didn’t watch the originals, forget the reruns. :) )

All these changes raise again the larger question of where the whole franchise is headed. Meanwhile, Detectives Nichols and Stevens should make “Criminal Intent” different, and maybe that’s not a thing.

Where is the franchise headed?? Hell in a hand basket, full of teens and those who like everything spelled out for them with out having to have a thought process going on while watching tv? The true boob toobers?? *SMIRK*

But.. IT’S OK!! They got Saffron Burrows!!! USA.. you might want to throw in Megan Fox while you are at it, I think with them two, your target audience of the walking hormone will be captured totally!

Saffron Burrows

Saffron Burrows - Do we really want an anorexic being in the spot light? I guess this is the kind of projection USA thinks is a GOOD IDEA???!!

You remember the stories about girls as young as 6 years old starving themselves to be “perfect”? I think Saffron Burrows is a spokeswoman for that campaign….

Kathryn Erbe - A better choice for TV.... Thin but healthy! Beauty with out glitz, a role model type for those little 6 year olds who think they need to starve themselves to be beautiful... proof they don't have to.

Julianne Nicholson - Another perfect choice for TV.. Thin but healthy looking, your girl next door; the NORMAL woman.. another advocate that you can be thin and don't have to starve yourself to do it...

Makes you wonder what the message the USA Network is really sending doesn’t it?

And the Chronically Moronic Award goes to……… THE USA NETWORK for breaking something that was already perfect…

Chronically Moronic Award

Feel free to sound off as you will. :)

As this quickly comes to a close, I had the time to sit and reflect over the events that have occured over the last 10 years, not just in my personal life, but the world.

I am not saying we have seen more then decades before, but this past one has been full of and good times.

The good things we saw this :

1. Blogs, facebook, myspace, Second Life, etc.

2. Reality TV, American Idol and other music programs (ok, for the most part, thats a thing, some of them REALLY SUCK!)

3. Ipods!!

4. Green and or talking cars

5. The “Man” sticking it to Micro$oft (THE PENGUIN RULES!!)

6. Music!! OMG What an INCREDIBLE for music! Blues also became more popular as a lot of young ppl jumped into it feet first.

7. The identity of Deep throat was eligible to be public knowledge; former FBI agent, W. Mark Felt

8. The final Installment of the Harry Potter books hit the shelves (take that how you will… :) )

9. IPHONE!!! Blue tooth, 3G, etc etc…

10. Micheal Phelps brings home the gold for the US.

11. The Detroit Redwings won 2 Stanley Cups (Ok, so this is personal for me.)

12. Nancy Pelosi became the FIRST FEMALE speaker of the US House of Representatives

13. John Kerry did NOT get elected… (I do love how he used his Army service in Nam to fire his campaign.. what he forgot to mention, and the old Soldiers remember, he is the same guy that as soon as he got back from his second tour in Nam, he threw his medals in the water in front of the White House and did press conferences with the Hippie Squad telling the Country that his brother soldiers were rapists, murderers etc.
His military service is only a “proud moment” for him when it suits his agenda, otherwise.. PHHHT the rest of us.)

The Things:

1. AOL buy out of Time Warner

2. AOL Took over ICQ (I hate it now but still use it, go figure)

3. The USS Cole (I think this one needs no explanation)

4. Terrorism escalated to an all time high, we watched in horror as the towers fell, the pentagon was blown up, and cried even more when we were told about the brave passangers of United Flight 93 standing strong and brave, and downing their plane in a PA field. Madrid bombings, anthrax… I don’t think I need to continue, I don’t think any of us will forget those events any time soon.

5. Some of our own people (American Citizens) were helping the cause of the terrorists.

6. Afghanistan War

7. Iraq War

I have lost many friends in 6 and 7, but I am proud of them. They gave their lifes to defend freedom, they stood up for what they felt was right and for a cause they believed in. I miss them every day, and in my heart, they are not gone, because I will never forget them. I cherish every moment of the time they were in my life, and feel honored to have been a part of theirs.

8. Nancy Pelosi became the FIRST FEMALE speaker of the US House of Representatives (on here twice, I was glad a woman finally made it but… I wasn’t crazy about her… That’s being nice. :) )

9. The DC Snipers

10. Destructive Mother Nature, Katrina, earthquakes, Tsunamies…

11. Planes going down left and right

12. Deaths of many dear public figures, the ones we felt we knew personally: President Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II, Peter Jennings, Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, President Gerald Ford, Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin, Ana Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger, Bettie Page, Ted Kennedy, MJ and Farrah.

13. Terry Schiavo’s case… I find it because congress butted their noses into it. They turned it into their own personal agenda. I do not feel that a person’s right to die should be a public event or decision. If I signed a DNR order, I expect it to be carried out.

14. The Democrats took control of both houses. ( to me being military! The Democrats are not known for thier support of the military, I mean, they were the ones who voted to send our troops to war, but then the majority of them turned around and voted to not send us supplies like oh.. BULLETS to do the job with… )

15. The Britney Spears saga

16. The capture and execution of a tyrant (This is only in the things section because it’s a crock it had to be done in the first place. I am still chronically stunned at times that there are people like him allowed to breath… HOOOOAH 4ID!)

17. Judicial system comes to Iraq (some what, but its better then what they had before.)

18. Pakistans’ former FEMALE Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto killed by an assassin.

19. The worst economic times in 40 years

20. Swine flu

21. The Detroit Redwings lost to the Pitsburg Penguins in a Stanley Cup final. (again, personal for me)

22. Pirates, school shootings

23. Soldiers not being cared for after sacrificing themselves to a war…. PTSD induced suicides, Ft Hood Shootings, hospital conditions, that list can go on and on and on… I mean, their president offered them a suicide pill so they wouldn’t “be burdens to their family or society anymore”. I have a husband that was wounded in Iraq in 2005… After the Army stated they were no longer able to help him, he had to retire. I do not look at him as a burden at all; like our other wounded soldiers, he is a hero, and they ALL deserve better then what they are getting…

24. The smoking ban in bars (I am a smoker, no I do not smoke where people are eating, or blow it in their face, etc; I have seen a lot of places go under because most people do smoke while drinking especially. I expect to see smokers in a bar. I don’t expect to see them in restaurant smoking while people are eating
but thats just me. I like to think I am a courteous smoker; I live by the principal of “I smoke, you don’t through me”.)

25. Kanye West and Taylor Swift…. (She whines too much, he deserves the chronically moronic award… Nuff said.)

We have also seen some things!

1. Janet’s wardrobe malfunction

2. Martha going to jail (ok, thats only because she always put on the MS PERFECT AIR!)

3. The Britney Spears Saga (Ok so it’s listed twice, I still find it …)

4. Enron gets busted and people end up in prison for fraud

5. Thomas Beattie gives birth… (the only thing here really is the ’s role in it…)

We also found out how stupid so many are… Bush Gore in Florida ring any bells?

With my list of events in the world this past , you could say that the 2000 really sucked. There was more then good.. Granted it did, but the important thing to me is what we have learned as a society from it all? I believe things happen for a reason. It makes you stronger mentally as a person. You can either lay down and die over it, or use it to make you wiser, and make sure they don’t get repeated.

As a society, we need to stick together, no matter what religion, race, sex, we are. Those are trivial in the grand scheme of things. If we allow these things to continue to happen in our future, there will be nothing left for our children or their children. We need to all learn from the tragedies of this , and work harder to making the upcoming one better.

I wish you all a very happy and safe New Year. I hope that 2010 is better for us all then the last .

Cheers!
